Ultimate Pi Day Celebration: 3/14/15 9:26:53...And a St. Patrick's Day Parade?

As mentioned in the previous post, Pi Day in 2015 was especially cool because it twice that day it was 3/14/15 9:26:53 (plus as many decimal points as you care to add on).

We thought about partying from 9:26:53 a.m. to the same time at night, but there was too much going on that day: My daughter was in a St. Patrick's Day parade, I was anxious to start assembling a gazebo that I had bought, and we had church meetings (stake conference) that evening with a visiting member of quorum of seventy. That required some tricky planning to pull it all off.

But I put a positive spin on it: It's Pi Day! They're throwing a parade! We're having a barn-raising! A general authority is coming to celebrate!

The St. Patrick's Day parade celebrated things that were Irish...

Or green....

(Apparently this dog didn't like its picture taken. It stuck its tongue out at me.)

It was fun watching the parade with neighbors.

And there's our group!

And although bagpipes are Scottish, the Irish dancers perform at the Scottish festival, so it all works out.

It was a fun parade.

Back home, we celebrated Pi Day with a party-sized pizza from the Pie Pizzeria.

Then we did a bit of a barn-raising, assembling the main frame of our gazebo.

Assembling our way around the structure...

That night Linette did a nice job feeding the guests at church.

And then we rushed home to prepare to celebrate Pi Day at 3/14/15 9:26:53 with family and friends.

Here is a "Pie Chart" I made from all of our Pi Day leftovers. It shows what percent of the day's fun came from each activity:
  • Key Lime: St. Patrick's Day Parade.
  • Chocolate Cream: Building a gazebo.
  • Apple Pie: Eating.

As you can see, approximately 52% of the fun came from eating.
